Staircase bespoke designs

{Stairs: The Heart of Building Style

Stairway designs are essential in architecture, serving as both a essential feature and a architectural highlight. With so many styles to choose from, staircases can be adapted to meet the preferences and styles of any space. Whether you focus on utility or aesthetics, there’s a stairway design that can meet your goals.

{Why U-Shaped Stairs Are a Favoured Choice

A U-shaped stairway design includes two flights that run in line, connected by a landing that makes a U-shaped bend. This option is often found in spacious homes or commercial spaces with plentiful upward room. The U-shape combines a luxurious look with a footprint that makes the most of available space. The landing is a adaptable space that can be converted into a decorative feature. These stairway designs are associated with elegance and are favoured in luxurious homes.

{Curved Staircases: Great for Opulent Homes

Curved stairs are characterised by their graceful, sweeping lines that radiate sophistication. With a more gradual curve, these staircases are more accessible than Spiral designs. Curved staircases are a popular choice in grand residences, traditional buildings, or high-end hotels for their striking impact. Curved stairs are more expensive to build due to the skilled craftsmanship they require. Despite the expense, Curved stairs create a stunning design highlight that enhances any interior.

{Floating Staircases: Great for Modern Homes

The layout of Floating stairway designs involves steps that seem to suspend, achieved through hidden supports. The hovering effect is created by attaching the stairs to a concealed structure, removing the need for visible structures. This option is often used in sleek interiors to create a sense of minimalism. The simple look of Floating staircases ensures that other design elements, such as lighting, can become focal points. Although impressive, Floating stairway designs must be carefully engineered to maintain security.

{The Practicality of Spiral Stairs

Spiral stairs are known for their space-saving, spiral design with a helical axis. Spiral stairway designs are a ideal solution for small areas, such as outdoor decks, where space is at a premium. The use of materials like glass allows for a range of styles in Spiral stairway designs. While they are compact, Spiral stairway designs can be difficult for those with physical challenges or bulky objects. Spiral stairs are common for their unique design, which adds character to any space.

{The Versatility of Bifurcated Staircases

This design of stairway design is characterised by its harmonious design, often used in mansions. These stairs have a central flight that splits into two flights at a landing, usually curving in contrasting angles. Bifurcated stairway designs are well-known for their grand and imposing design, making them great for formal rooms. The harmonious design ensures a balanced appearance, often complemented by decorative banisters or chandeliers. Though they need additional space and a more significant budget, Bifurcated stairway designs are a enduring emblem of luxury.

{The Enduring Role of Staircases in Interiors

Stairs are a strong reminder of how construction can combine utility with aesthetic expression. With styles ranging from sleek and minimalist to grand and rustic, stairs offer limitless potential for tailoring. Regardless of the design or use, stairway designs will always be a central feature in how we experience and use our environments.

Thousands of homes could have 'unsafe staircases'

Thousands of council homes could have potentially dangerous staircases which need to be replaced.

Newcastle City Council said more than 3,000 homes and 57 block of flats have staircases with horizontal guarding which can pose a risk to children climbing up the panels and either falling or becoming trapped.

The authority said the design, now banned under modern building standards, was a category one hazard under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
